Anders Vester wants his son Allan to fight Christian Bladt in 2010

Former European champion, Christian Bladt has been added to the Anders Vester promotion in Kjellerup, Denmark on the 26th of March next year. Anders Vester will also of course have his son Allan on the program in another fight. The idea from Vester is to toss Allan together with Christian in a superhot Danish fight later in 2010 providing both guys come winning out of their matches in Kjellerup. An agreement from both fighters about such a fight has already been made states Anders Vester on his website.

SHOWTIME SPORTS® ANNOUNCES MATCHUPS FOR GROUP STAGES 2 AND 3 IN THE SUPER SIX WORLD BOXING CLASSIC

The matchups for Group Stages 2 and 3 of the Super Six World Boxing
Classic were announced on Sunday by SHOWTIME Sports®. All Group Stage 2 and 3 matches for the groundbreaking tournament will be scheduled to
take place in 2010 and will air on the premium television network
SHOWTIME® in the US. Dates and venues for the coming matchups will be
announced.

The celebrated tournament pits the six best super middleweight boxers in
the world against one another in a modified round robin as they compete
for supremacy in the 168-pound division and the inaugural Super Six
World Boxing Classic Cup. The points-based Group Stages ensure a
progression of fights and present added pressure for the fighters to
earn valuable points towards a berth in the single-elimination
Semi-Finals. Each participant will fight three different opponents in
the Group Stage segment of the tournament, earning two points for a win
with one bonus point for a KO/TKO, one point for a draw and zero for a
loss. After Group Stage 3, the four fighters with the highest point
totals will advance to the Semi-Finals.

Calzaghe believes Mikkel Kessler is the best boxer in the Super Six tournament

We have heard it before but it’s always nice to hear it again, retired former Super middleweight world Nr 1, superstar Joe Calzaghe from Wales firmly believes that Danish WBA-champ Mikkel Kessler is the best guy in the Super Six tournament. “Unless that long inactivity (1 year out of the ring before the Perdomo-fight) has hurt him he is simply the best one of the bunch” says Calzaghe to South Wales Argus website and adds, I don’t have a lot of faith in Carl Froch against Kessler but I wish him the best of luck”.

Ole Klemetsen about Haugen: He is big, strong and trains hard!

Former European light heavyweight champion Ole Klemetsen about soon to be professional heavyweight boxer (he makes his debut December 11th in Spain), Arild “The Hulk Haugen“: “I sparred with him in Spain a few months ago and I was careless for a brief moment and got hit, it was as if I had been hit by a train, he hits ferociously hard, and I was also told to lash out pretty hard against him to see if he could take it, I hit him really hard a few times and he didn’t react at all, Haugen is big, strong and trains hard, that makes him interesting”.

Note: Ole Klemetsen has been asked to spar with Haugen leading up to his bout in December and he will probably do it. Klemetsen is retired of course and by no means a light heavyweight any longer.

The professional boxing debut of former strongman, Arild Haugen now set for December 11

Former Strongman-competitor, Arild “The Hulk” Haugen is set to make his professional boxing debut in Valencia, Spain December 11th writes Norwegian newspaper, VG (Verdens Gang – check out the piece on the link below). “We will try to find some decent opposition with good skills so he can learn from it, “not a drunken sailor”, it will be fought over four rounds” says Haugen’s trainer and promoter, Ulf Johansen. Haugen’s debut has been talked about for over a year and nothing has happened, let’s hope this December date can come to reality.

Patrick Wheeler new president for the Swedish boxing federation

On today’s annual Board meeting in Stockholm for the Swedish Boxing Federation (www.swebox.se) a new president was elected with the tight majority votes of 43 – 41. The new president is Stockholm based boxing-leader Patrick Wheeler and he is warmly welcomed by among others, national team anchor and Olympian Naim Terbunja who has wanted a change in power for a very long time and now gets it. So, Patrick Wheeler is in, and Bettan Andersson from Gothenburg, one of very few female presidents in the boxing world, is out, that is the new reality for Swedish boxing. Andersson has been in power since 2005 and worked very hard for, among other things, getting the female amateur boxers into the Olympics 2012. Patrick Wheeler has been involved in boxing for a long time and is considered to be an honest and sincere individual who delivers what he promises. The choice of new president is probably a good one, time will tell of course but loads of Clubs in Sweden are confident he will do a great job.
